UN 3552 SODIUM-ION BATTERIES

A significant advancement in battery labeling is on the horizon with the introduction of the Multilateral Agreement M 354. In line with section 1.5.1 of the ADR, new regulations are being introduced for labeling SODIUM ION BATTERIES with organic electrolyte, whether standalone or integrated into equipment. This agreement allows for the transport of these batteries under specific conditions, classified as UN 3551 SODIUM ION BATTERIES or UN 3552 SODIUM ION BATTERIES IN EQUIPMENT or PACKED WITH EQUIPMENT, as long as all relevant construction and testing standards are met.

To implement this agreement, the following steps are essential:

• Facilitating the transportation of SODIUM ION BATTERIES under specified conditions.
• Ensuring adherence to design and testing standards as outlined in the Multilateral Agreement.
• Providing clear guidelines for labeling and handling SODIUM ION BATTERIES during transport.
